Undergraduate

Welcome

The College of Engineering seeks academic learners and achievers - thinkers and tinkers - who have the engineering mindset of being creative, innovative and entrepreneurial.

For some students it’s all about our beautiful Florida weather, or our gorgeous urban campuses. For other students it’s the accessibility to research or year round internships.

Regardless of your reasons, the culture and climate of USF and the College of Engineering can provide you opportunities to thrive!

Why an Engineering Degree?

An engineering degree or a BS in cybersecurity, computer science or information technology, is one of the most versatile degrees in the 21st Century. With a fundamental engineering foundation, you can move into careers in engineering, education, medical and health fields, law school, patents and trademarks, corporate leadership or innovator and entrepreneur.

Many practices of engineering cross over major disciplines, so a degree is not inclusive of all that one can do in a specific field. An engineering education will help you learn to think critically and to assess a situation or solve a problem within the constraints of resources.

Accelerated BS & MS degree programs are available.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities

At USF undergraduate students have many opportunities to participate in research projects and are encouraged to join a research project. It’s good experience for graduate school or preparing for a professional career.

Graduating students are invited to participate in the Order of the Engineer ceremony and take the Oath of the Engineer or the Oath of the Computing Professional. The ceremony emphasizes pride and responsibility in the engineering profession. Held at the Marshall Student Center each fall and spring on the Friday before commencement, this highly attended event celebrates the transformation from student to professional engineer.

USF Stampede of Service

USF's largest city-wide annual day of service gives student participants the choice of a variety of service projects taking place during MLK, Jr. Weekend. This is a great opportunity to make new friends while also making an impact in your community.
