Carol Agaiby is a freshman biomedical sciences major at the University of South Florida. She aspires to be a doctor, driven by her passion for medicine and interacting with people from all backgrounds. She has diverse volunteering experiences with various organizations, including Feeding Tampa Bay, AccentCare Hospice Care, and AdventHealth Hospital. She has also participated in multiple research studies at USF and the UVA School of Medicine through a summer research internship program. Carol holds several leadership roles, including serving as the head director of the BACE program at USF and as a TA for biology. She plans to attend medical school after completing her degree at USF, with the goal of becoming a physician.

Lana Almukhtar is a freshman in the Honors College from Baghdad, Iraq, majoring in biomedical sciences. She currently serves as the Secretary for the Pre-Med MAP and is preparing to complete her Experience Abroad in the Dominican Republic over the summer. She presented her first research poster earlier this year at the 2024 USF Health Research Conference. Her goal is to pursue an MD, possibly specializing in neurology or internal medicine. In addition to her studies, Lana enjoys cooking, fashion, learning new languages, and going to the gym.

Natalie AmRhein is a fourth-year National Merit student at USF studying both environmental science and biology on the pre-medicine track from Fort Collins, CO. She is currently a member of many student organizations such as Dean鈥檚 Student Leadership Society, Phi Beta Kappa, the Outdoor Club, and the founding president of a new Honors research organization called the Raven鈥檚 Guild. In addition to this, Natalie is a member of Dr. Alfredo's research lab on water contaminants and resulting health indexes. During Spring 2022, Natalie studied abroad for a semester at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom through the Honors College. In summer 2023, she completed a National Science Foundation funded IRES program in Ghana researching water sanitation, anaerobic biodigesters, and science education. She also is involved heavily with her passion of the outdoors through being an adventure trip leader and program assistant at USF鈥檚 outdoor recreation program with her Wilderness First Responder, Swiftwater Rescuer, and scuba diving certifications. She became a licensed whitewater raft guide in summer 2024 in her hometown on the Cache la Poudre river. 

Alena Babkin is currently a junior in the School of Information. She previously attended the State College of Florida, where she earned an associate of arts degree and made the Dean's List for four consecutive semesters. After transitioning from community college, she transferred to the University of South Florida in the summer of 2023 to pursue a bachelor's degree in information science with a concentration in Information Security. During this transformative period, she actively engaged with the Transfer Student Organization to familiarize herself with USF's community and resources. Outside of her academic pursuits, Alena has a passion for traveling and has explored various countries, including Germany, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, and Russia. Despite being a Florida native, Alena maintains a strong connection to her Russian heritage and has visited Russia multiple times to reunite with her closest family members and immerse herself in the culture. Fluent in the language, she effortlessly integrates her heritage into her life, enriching her studies with a profound appreciation for diversity.

Sameera Beharry is a rising junior in the Judy Genshaft Honors College, majoring in biomedical sciences and minoring in biomedical anthropology and aging sciences. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Sameera moved to Tampa to pursue her studies as an aspiring physician-scientist and is actively involved in research and student organizations on campus to help realize this dream. She is also a volunteer research assistant with the USF Global Center for Hearing and Speech Research and is currently in the process of starting her own student organization, a local chapter of the American Physician Scientists Association, to help unite the fields of scientific inquiry and medical practice within the undergraduate community.

Lillie "May" Birch is a freshman in the Honors College. She is a military kid who has lived in all corners of the United States. As a USF student, May has begun her involvement on campus by running for Student Government, where she was recently elected to a Senator position. As an international studies major, May plans to intern at a human rights law firm in South Africa this summer. After graduation, she plans to attend law school with the goal of pursuing a degree in international law.

Amruta Bollineni is a third-year student from Orlando, Florida, at the University of South Florida, pursuing a concurrent degree in English (BA) with a concentration in literary studies and health sciences (BS) with a concentration in biological sciences, along with a minor in Spanish, on the pre-medicine track. Amruta serves as an on-campus leader, working as a Peer Advisor Leader with the Office of New Student Connections, and co-founded the Pickleball Enthusiasts club on campus. She also conducts research at the Health Outcomes and Behavior Department at Moffitt Cancer Center and the Byrd Alzheimer's Institute. In her free time, Amruta enjoys reading, photography, and playing pickleball. Upon graduation, Amruta wishes to pursue an MD/PhD with the goal of becoming a neurologist.

Sierra Boodhoo is a junior in the international studies BA program who is also pursuing a minor in anthropology; she already has an AA in biomedical sciences. She is a Legislative Intern with LIP, an officer of the Badminton Club at USF, and a former PTK Honor Society President. Sierra is pursuing the Global Citizen Award and hopes to become a GloBull Ambassador after returning from studying abroad in London. She aims to touch and help many lives through a career in international law and public policy, possibly transitioning to cultural property law later on.

Alyssa Capel is a freshman from Port Orange, Florida. She is majoring in biomedical sciences with a minor in public health on the pre-physician assistant (PA) track. She served in various leadership positions during high school and is excited to continue that journey here at USF. In addition to her studies, Alyssa enjoys going to the beach with friends, working as a registered behavioral therapist with neurodivergent children, volunteering at the VA hospital, and spending time with friends and family. After graduation, Alyssa plans to pursue a PA degree in order to become a pediatric or obstetric PA. 

Samantha is a sophomore National Hispanic Scholar in the Honors College. Originally from Miami, Fla., she is drawn to diverse spaces and is currently studying abroad at the University of Exeter. On campus, she has been directly involved in boosting voter registration efforts as a leader in USF PIRG (Public Interest Research Group). With a passion for policy and reform, Samantha is majoring in economics with a minor in political science. She hopes to pursue a career in the foreign service or a similar government-related field. This past summer, she interned at the congressional office of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, where she organized community events and created change at the local level. In her free time, Samantha enjoys the outdoors, films, and visiting museums, including USF's Contemporary Art Museum on campus.

Caitlin Coyle is a junior from Naples, Florida. She has had the opportunity to write and present an academic research paper on the impacts of ocean acidification at USF and Johns Hopkins University through the USF Humanities Institute. Caitlin completed a summer abroad experience in Florence, Italy, in 2023 and has since worked as a GloBull Ambassador for study abroad, collaborating with other students who plan to study abroad. In addition to school activities, Caitlin enjoys working out, managing a YouTube channel, playing the violin, and spending time with her friends. After graduation, Caitlin plans to pursue a master鈥檚 degree in marine sciences/biology with the goal of working with NOAA in the future.

Victoria 鈥淏ia鈥� Doh is an out-of-state freshman from Arizona majoring in biomedical sciences with a minor in psychology. She is the historian for the premedical fraternity Phi Delta Epsilon, an undergraduate research assistant at the McCrae Sleep Research Lab in the College of Nursing, a volunteer at the USF Student Health and Wellness Center, and a part-time educator at Lululemon. Outside of academics, Bia enjoys exploring new places, trying new foods, and watching classic movies. After her undergraduate studies, Bia plans to attend medical school with interests in dermatology, psychiatry, and women鈥檚 health. 

Esther Marcuello Garcia was born in Madrid, Spain. She is currently a junior at USF majoring in cell and molecular biology with a minor in healthcare administration. Esther is a passionate and competitive athlete, having served as a team captain in volleyball and excelling in Javelin throw being Madrid Champion. Her academic journey is marked by a strong commitment to research, particularly in genetics and cancer biology, participating in advanced undergraduate research at USF. In her free time, she enjoys playing sports and participating in intramurals with her friends and coworkers.

Nicholas Giunto is a 4th year USF student earning his degree in chemistry. Nicholas takes pride in studying chemistry and is an active member of the Spanopoulos research lab. His main focus in undergraduate research is to test the antimicrobial properties of bismuth semiconductors. After graduation, Nicholas plans to pursue a PhD in chemistry, focusing his graduate research on environmental chemistry. In addition to his academic work, Nicholas serves as the VP of Recruitment in the Dean's Student Leadership Society. With this role, Nicholas works hard to recruit new members by showcasing what the College of Arts and Sciences has to offer. In his free time, Nicholas enjoys golfing, gardening and video games.

Amari Graham is a second-year student at the University of South Florida, majoring in psychology. Since arriving at USF, Amari has excelled in her academics, making the Dean鈥檚 List every semester since Fall 2022. Outside of pursuing her education, Amari spends time attending various club events, organizing projects, volunteering, and staying involved with her local church. In the future, Amari hopes to attend graduate school and one day become a neuropsychologist.

Abigail Heritage is a senior majoring in Biology with a minor in Art Studio at the University of South Florida. She has successfully revitalized the Freshman Mentoring Program and orchestrated the inaugural CAS Spring Clothing Swap. Abigail also manages various engagement events for community and society members. In her role as Volunteer Coordinator for the USF Pre-Dental Society, Abigail manages volunteer opportunities and coordinates guest speakers. Her commitment extends to her role as a Crisis Counselor with Crisis Text Line, where she provides vital support to individuals in emotional distress. Additionally, Abigail has put her skills in team leadership to use as a supervisor at her part-time job at Planet Smoothie.

Elliot is a third-year psychology student and a member of the Judy Genshaft Honors College from Green Bay, Wisconsin. He is minoring in Spanish and sociology. Upon graduation, he plans to go into school psychology, either in a clinical or research setting. In his free time, Elliot likes to run and play basketball.

De-Janaye "Deja" Hicks is a freshman from Jacksonville, Florida. As a USF student, De-Janaye is an active member of the Black Women in Law, a club focused on providing opportunities for Black undergraduates on their journey to law school. Deja has served as a co-host for the Black Student Union during the Verto Study Abroad Program in Costa Rica. De-Janaye is majoring in political science. In addition to her studies, Deja enjoys going to the beach, trying new foods, traveling, and volunteering with local organizations. After graduation, she plans to attend law school with the goal of becoming a corporate lawyer. 

Tiffany Hoang is from St. Paul, Minnesota, and is a student at the University of South Florida, majoring in biomedical sciences. On campus, Tiffany is part of many organizations, including the Swimming Club, Student Alumni Association, Vietnamese Student Association, and Pre-Physician Assistant Society. Alongside her education, Tiffany enjoys swimming, hanging out with friends, and trying new food places. Her future goals are to complete her BS in biomedical sciences at USF and to become a physician assistant. 

Cameran Isler is a freshman from Orlando, Florida. Cameran is double majoring in political science and philosophy, following a pre-law track. Cameran has worked closely with the Florida Civics and Debate Initiative (FCDI) to advance civic engagement and education in students in grades 6-12. At USF, Cameran participates in the Undergraduate Research Society and is currently engaged in a research project investigating the effect of microplastics in our food. In addition, Cameran is a proud member of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity and Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Society. Beyond academic life, Cameran has a passion for the arts and physical activity, often found hip-hop dancing or skateboarding around campus. Cameran鈥檚 leisure time also includes enjoying episodes of The Office. Cameran's goals are set on earning a law degree and securing a governmental position. With a strong foundation built at USF, Cameran aspires to become a future leader in the legal and political arenas. 

Bhargav Kadiyala is a freshman in the Judy Genshaft Honors College from Tampa, Florida. As an active member of the Tampa Bay community and a student at USF, Bhargav avidly participates in many organizations, including the Students of India Association (SIA), where he serves as the event鈥檚 co-chair, and is an active member of clubs such as Rotaract and Red Cross. Bhargav is majoring in biology with a concentration in medical sciences and plans to declare a minor by the end of Spring 2024. As a valuable supplement to his academics, Bhargav loves to spend his time in extracurricular activities that not only help him relax but also allow him to learn something new and give back to the USF and Tampa communities. Some of these activities include volunteering for the Humane Society and the VA. After graduation, Bhargav plans to apply for medical school. Though he is not yet sure where he will apply, he continues to dedicate himself to academics and extracurriculars, ensuring his success in future educational endeavors.

Lana Klein-Couzzi is a sophomore majoring in biology and is a member of the Judy Genshaft Honors College. Lana spends her time volunteering at a no-insurance hospital, translating patient-doctor interactions from Spanish to English and vice versa. She is currently assisting in Dr. Richard's lab on a project dealing with invasive Knotweed. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in the medical field.

Nichola "Nico" Lavaud is a freshman in the Honors College from Miami, Florida. Nichola is majoring in political science and economics, minoring in philosophy, and is on the pre-law track. Nichola serves as the Assistant Director of Administration for the Village Area Council and is a USF Ambassador. Outside of his studies, Nichola volunteers as a museum docent at the Florida Holocaust Museum and will study the Holocaust during an Experience Abroad in Germany and Poland this summer. After graduation, Nichola plans to attend law school to work in human rights law. 

Andrew is a first-year student who graduated with his International Baccalaureate diploma from Land O鈥� Lakes High School and is now a part of the Judy Genshaft Honors College at USF Tampa. Currently, he is highly involved in the Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity and serves as a development coordinator and counselor for Camp Kesem USF, a nonprofit that provides year-round support and a free summer camp for children whose parents have received a cancer diagnosis. Andrew is an aspiring physician studying biomedical science and minoring in nutrition, with an interest in preventative medicine, helping underserved communities, and medical education. Outside of his work at USF, Andrew is studying to become an EMT and enjoys spending his free time playing guitar and bass with his band, going to the gym, being in nature, and playing hockey and flag football in recreation and intramural leagues. 

Christopher (Chris) is a fourth-year student at the University of South Florida, double majoring in econometrics & quantitative economics (EQE) and international studies, with a minor in legal studies. Born in Tampa, Florida, and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, Chris has dedicated his academic and experiential journey to improving foreign-aid-funded development programs in conflict-affected regions, especially in the Middle East and North Africa. Through numerous internships and research experiences, he has focused on leveraging aggregated data to inform policy and security decisions more effectively.

Roma Patel is a junior currently pursuing her BA in economics and working toward her certificate in business analytics and information sciences. In addition to her studies, Roma enjoys a variety of activities such as literature and film, traveling, seeking out new cuisines, and volunteering at her local elementary school. She is currently in the process of applying for internships within corporate banking and plans to pursue a career in the same field after she graduates. 

Lyah Persaud is a senior at the University of South Florida, majoring in psychology with a minor in criminology. Originally from New York, she moved to Florida, where she brought her love for creative writing with her. Guided by her passion for humanitarian work, Lyah strives to become a social worker and, hopefully, a licensed clinical social worker one day to offer counseling services to those in need. When not immersed in her studies, she enjoys exploring new ideas through writing, art, and meditation. 

Olivia Pinilla is a second-year student majoring in biology with a minor in public health. Her interests encompass biological sciences, medicine, leadership training, and public health. Olivia is a National Hispanic Scholar and is the Secretary of Bulls for Moffitt and the Volunteer Co-Chair of the Judy Genshaft Honors College Student Council. Olivia plans to attend medical school and continue her studies in the public health sector, with the goal of becoming a dermatologist. 

Jhanavi Sabharwal is a sophomore majoring in biology with a medical concentration and is on the premed track. She is from Faridabad, India, and has been enjoying Tampa since she moved here two years ago to pursue her degree. She is a proud member of Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity鈥檚 Florida Epsilon chapter at USF. Jhanavi is a research enthusiast and has presented at the Undergraduate Research Conference. She currently volunteers in the Porterfield Lab at USF and loves animals, volunteering at an animal shelter in India over the summer. In her free time, she enjoys reading, going to the gym, hanging out with friends, and traveling. After graduation, she plans to attend medical school with the hope of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. 

Divyani is a sophomore in the Honors College, aspiring to attend medical school and pursue research in bioinformatics. She currently serves as the service chair of the Undergraduate American Medical Women's Association and as the treasurer of the Hindu Student Council. Divyani is also a part of Mizrana, a collegiate dance team in Tampa Bay. She is majoring in biomedical sciences and data sciences, conducting research at the Health Informatics School and the Microbiome Institute. Divyani loves to dance, hang out with friends, and travel in her free time. 

Asia Thompson is a junior from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, majoring in communication and English, concentrating in literary studies, and minoring in interdisciplinary classical civilization. As a USF student, Asia has served as an on-campus ambassador for the Office of Veteran Success on the USF Tampa campus. After graduation, Asia plans to pursue an MA in comparative literature with the goal of becoming an English literature professor.

Gabrielle Whyte is a junior, currently dual-enrolled in the bachelor鈥檚 in humanities and master鈥檚 in film studies programs, with a minor in political science. As a USF student, Gabrielle has presented research at both local and national conferences, competed as a member of the USF mock trial team, and served as co-founder and president of the New Media Collective at USF. She will also be serving as a research assistant for the Center for Sustainable Democracy and returning to the renowned Richard Macksey National Undergraduate Research Symposium for the second consecutive year. Gabrielle also currently serves as an intern/volunteer at the Gasparilla and Sunscreen Film Festivals and as a contributor and editor for The Closeup, a new undergraduate media studies journal written, edited, and published by USF students. Gabrielle is passionate about the political impact of media and culture and spends her free time writing and creatively directing socio-politically aware films and new media products. After graduating, she hopes to complete a master鈥檚 degree in media studies and then pursue an education in entertainment and intellectual property law, with the goal of establishing a media institute aimed at democratizing the media industry and promoting increased political, social, and cultural awareness and understanding.
