This year, we are happy to announce we'll be hosting a Career Series in replacement of our Career Week!

We'll bring together department majors, non-majors, graduate students, alumni, and others whom work in various places. Throughout these events, we'll be showcasing panels dedicated to introducing potential careers and help you take your next step toward your Undergraduate journey.

We hope you'll join us for these exciting, new events!

Crafting and Tailoring Your Resume: Monday, Sept. 18

Description: Learn how to improve your resume to attract employers, how to tailor resumes to different jobs and internship opportunities, and how to seek employment in areas outside your major or concentration.

Workshop - Career & Professional Services at USF: Tuesday, Sept. 19

Description: Learn what Handshake is, how to use it, and how it can help start your job search. Find out what resources CCPD has to offer, what to expect from the USF Career Fair on Sept. 26, and how to prepare.

Community Social with EGSA: Thursday, Sept. 21

Hosts: The English Graduate Student Association
Description: Meet our graduate students in Literature, Creative Writing, and Rhetoric. Learn about EGSA's new mentorship initiatives. Talk about how to apply to grad school and what it's like to be a grad student. Enjoy snacks, drinks, and socializing!

Description: Interested in research projects? Come to this event to talk about possibly pursuing your own research project and hear about experiences from others. 

Workshop - Planning for the Career You Want: Monday, Oct. 2

Description: This workshop invites you to bring one to three job ads in a field you're excited about. Together we'll identify the skills you already have and strategize how to find experiences at USF that will make you a strong candidate during your future job hunt.

Career Q&A - Law School and Legal Careers: Thursday, Oct. 5

Host: Jerry Rumph
Description: Jerry Rumph is a former lawyer who is now earning his PhD in English Literature at USF. He earned a joint JD/MBA from Florida State University and also has a MFA in Creative Writing from Reinhardt University. Jerry will be answering questions about how to move from an English degree to a legal career, what to plan for when applying to law school, and more.

Career Q&A - Public Policy and Community Services: Monday, Oct. 16

Host: Eric Vaughan
Description: Eric Vaughan earned his English BA from USF in 2012 and was the Vice President of the English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta. He has also received MAs in Social Justice and Journalism from USF. Since then, Eric has worked as Associate Director of LGBTQ Programs and Policy for the New York City Department of Education and as Program Director for Community Tampa Bay. He now works for the St. Pete's Mayor’s Office.

Description: Meet and talk to Eric Vaughan, who works for St. Pete’s Mayor’s Office. Take the opportunity to learn and ask questions about his career in Public Policy and Community Action. In addition, enjoy food, drinks, and socializing with others.
